Carl "Ferris" Buhler is the CEO of Buhler Consulting, LLC.
Carl is a retired Air Force Brigadier General (retired in 2018) with an active TS/SCI security clearance. He has over twenty-eight years of active-duty Air Force experience with twelve of those years as a senior executive in the aircraft maintenance, logistics, munitions, production and supply areas. Carl also holds a Business Consultant Certificate from the International Association of Professions Career College.
During his career, Carl served as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration "Thunderbirds" maintenance officer (Thunderbird #11) during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. Additionally, he is a combat-proven leader with deployments to the cease-fire phase of Operation DESERT STORM, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Carl has also commanded five times, including commands at the complex, wing, group, and squadron-levels. His commands include Commander of the deployed 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Group, Southwest Asia; Commander of the 78th Air Base Wing/Installation Commander, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia; and Commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex, Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
In addition to his commands, Carl served as a Deputy Director of Resource Integration (budgeting) for Logistics at Headquarters, Air Force (Pentagon) and as a two-time major command Director of Logistics (PACAF & ACC). He has led several organizations to achieve proven results, production increases, process-improvements, efficiency improvements & turnarounds across the aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, logistics, sustainment, technology, and supply areas.
Carl's experience includes business development with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Foreign Military Sales, training, legislative, profit & loss execution, proposals, color teams and boards. He has extensive flightline & backshop aircraft maintenance experience (both at home-station and in combat).
Carl is from Valdosta, Georgia. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics from Valdosta State College, Ga., a Masters degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma, a Masters degree in national security and strategic studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff, Newport, R.I., and a Masters degree in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Washington, D.C.
Carl is a proud member of the Air Force Association (AFA), the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion, Military Officers Association (MOAA), the Thunderbirds Alumni Association (TBAA), National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and the Logistics Officers Association (LOA).
